Recruiting Questionnaire

To some, a football questionnaire might seem like a minor step in the college recruiting process. This form, typically given to recruits already on a coaching staff’s radar, often asks for basic information about the player and can seem unimportant. However, it actually plays a crucial role.

Not filling out a football questionnaire not only makes it harder for coaches to track a player, but it can also signal a lack of interest from the player. This is especially true if a coach specifically requested the form, and the player didn’t follow through. On the other hand, completing a questionnaire can encourage a coach to consider a player they might have been uncertain about.

If there are schools you’re interested in, filling out their questionnaires is a smart move, particularly early in the recruiting process. At this stage, it’s best to keep your options open, as the recruiting landscape can shift. For example, you may be aiming for an SEC program but find that a D3 school offers a better fit. Or, perhaps you’re focused on a few local D2 schools, only to see Big Ten or Pac-12 programs show interest after your skills improve during your senior year.
